Using NON-Epson Inks WILL clog the Print Heads every time & you'll have to replace the head. They WILL clog your print heads.Epson uses propriatary inks that are much thinner then 3rt party ints and contain no lead or iron. Using "Compatible" ink cartridges on printers where the head Print head is attached to teh cart (ie: HP, Dell, etc) if fine & they work perfectly, but printers like Epson & Cannon use teh same kind of ink that apparently 3rd party manufacturers can't get becasue I tried all of them and ALL clogged the Print Heads. So my advice, spend the extra money and but AUTHENTIC Eposn Ink and Carts. I have owned several Epson Printers over the years and the qualipy of the print and seed of the printing has always astounded me. The one thing I have learned over & over agai, with each Epson I've owned, is to NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use "Compatible" or "OEM" Inks or carts on there printers.
The quality of the inks are very good though and the prints I get from the R1800 are outstanding. A necessity for sure, there is no way around buying these things, I just wish they were a little cheaper. It's how the printer companies really make their money. I cringe that it costs me $120 to replace all of my ink cartridges on my Epson R1800 and I never get as many prints as I think I should.
I don't have a problem using third-party inks on my cheap everyday printers. It's perfect for the Epson printer it's designed for. But for professional quality jobs on a pretty expensive (at least when we bought it a few years ago) Epson Photo R1800 -- genuine ink is the only way to go. I don't think this ink requires any comments. Its genuine from Epson, period.
I sincerely hope you buy one even if you don't have a printer. It leaves one feeling wonderfully. IT as if angels themselves came down in this ink cartridge. I have never had an ink cartridge change my life in so many ways. It will change your life. Not only does it allow my printer to print but it prints an amazing baby blue. This ink cartridge is amazing. I recommend this ink cartridge to anyone who needs to print.
Their archival/long-life qualities are very impressive. I continue to be amazed at the quality of these Epson inks.
